It depends on the specific policy you purchase and the covered reasons outlined in that policy. In most cases, if the trip is canceled or interrupted for a covered reason, you are covered up to 100% of the trip cost. However, not all reasons are covered, and Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR) policies come with their own rules and regulations. Even with insurance, there may be nonrefundable trip components that we or the insurance provider cannot get back for you.

It depends on the reason, timing, and the policies of hotels and tour operators. Do not assume that you will get back any expenses for a canceled or interrupted trip, the cause and timing of which does not fall within the protected timeframe for cancellation as outlined at the time of payment.
